The Network 8000 employs the RS-485 standard for serial communication, enabling robust and long-distance data transmission between devices. Key components compatible with this network include:
- MicroZone II (MZ II): A controller designed for zone-level temperature control.
- MicroFlo II (MF II): A controller tailored for variable air volume (VAV) applications.
- Package Equipment Module (PEM): A module used for integrating packaged equipment into the network.
- MicroNet Integrator (ASDI): A device that facilitates communication between MicroNet controllers and the Network 8000 system.
To enhance interoperability with modern systems, Siemens developed the Barber-Colman Network 8000 Enhanced Driver. This driver allows integration between the APOGEE® Automation System and the Barber-Colman Network 8000 by replacing the original Barber-Colman GCM, thereby enabling the APOGEE system to control the Barber-Colman ASD bus.
