The DSK12 series is engineered to manage the speed and torque of AC servo motors, specifically three-phase, synchronous motors excited by permanent magnets. It enables acceleration and deceleration in both directions (four-quadrant operation) and sinusoidally commutates the current in the motor phases. The drive requires a resolver with proper alignment to the rotor for feedback. It operates on a single-phase 230 VAC mains supply without a transformer, provided the motor does not need to deliver more than 1 kW of continuous power. For higher power requirements, a transformer generating 3 x 230 VAC from a three-phase mains is necessary. The drive includes a soft-start circuit to limit inrush current and features internal brake resistors rated for 50 W continuous duty, capable of handling higher power for short periods. Auxiliary voltages for electronic circuits are isolated from the motor supply, with a separate auxiliary supply voltage input for the 230 VAC single-phase mains. In emergency stop situations, only the motor supply voltages can be switched off, while all outputs, including those of the simulated encoder, remain active. A brake relay is provided to control the holding brake of a motor via an external auxiliary contactor. All inputs and outputs, as well as supply voltages and motor connections, are located at the bottom of the DSK unit, with cables connecting to plug-in type screw terminals. The simulated encoder output is a Submin-D-Connector. Analog monitor signals are available on test pins behind the front cover, providing tachometer voltage for motor velocity information and a current monitor signal corresponding to the internal current command signal. The power stage is protected against short circuits both phase to phase and phase to ground. All control parameters are adjustable by potentiometers, and control parameters can be defined on personality modules to minimize setup and service time.
