The Allen-Bradley 1747-ASB Series A is a single-slot RIO communication module that occupies slot 0 in a 1746 remote chassis. It functions as an adapter (slave) on the RIO link and serves as the master for the remote chassis and any connected expansion chassis. This module facilitates efficient data exchange between a central processor (such as an SLC or PLC) and remote I/O modules by mapping the image of the I/O modules in its remote chassis directly to the processor's image table. It supports various addressing modes, including 1-slot, 2-slot, and 1/2-slot addressing, allowing flexible configuration to match specific application requirements. The 1747-ASB module operates at baud rates of 57.6 kbps, 115.2 kbps, or 230.4 kbps, ensuring reliable communication over the RIO link. It is compatible with a wide range of SLC 500 I/O modules, making it a versatile solution for expanding control systems across multiple locations.
