The 1746-A2 chassis facilitates the expansion of SLC 500 systems by accommodating two additional modules, such as I/O or communication interfaces. It supports specific module combinations; therefore, consulting the user manual is essential to ensure compatibility. The chassis requires a separate power supply mounted on the left side and supports back-panel mounting within an open enclosure. For systems requiring more extensive expansion, up to three chassis can be interconnected using chassis interconnection cables, providing a maximum of 30 module slots. Unused slots should be protected with 1746-N2 card slot fillers to prevent dust and debris accumulation.
